RLGA Group Plan signs Agreement with the Municipality of Ate for the Collection of WEEE

On October 27, 2017, the RLGA Group Plan for the collection and environmentally sound management of WEEE in Peru, signed an agreement with the Municipality of Ate for the collection and segregation of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) from that municipality, located in the northeast of Lima. The Municipality has more than 700,000 inhabitants and has included the collection of WEEE in its selective urban solid waste collection routes. In the segregation plant of the Municipality, the WEEE are classified and stored in an area specifically authorized for that purpose. Subsequently they are picked up by an authorized WEEE recycler and brought to their plant for recycling. The RLGA Group Plan, which represents more than 15 responsible producers, supports this initiative of the Municipality and covers the expenses related to logistics and environmentally friendly management of Ate's WEEE. This agreement serves as a model for efficient management of WEEE at the municipal level and allows both sectors, the public sector and the producers, to assume the responsibilities assigned in the WEEE Regulation (DS-001-2012-MINAM).
