The RLGA Group Plan exceeds 150 tons collected through the strategic alliance with Traperos de Emaús Trujillo

For more than a year and a half, the RLGA Group Plan for the environmentally sound management of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), relies upon on a strategic alliance with the Association “Traperos de Emaús Trujillo” (www.emaus-trujillo.com), for the collection and storage of WEEE from the northern region of Peru. In this role model for WEEE management Emáus Trujillo collects discarded electrical and electronic equipment through its existing network for waste collection from private companies, public sector and households in Trujillo and other cities in the north of the country. The materials are consolidated and categorized in a central warehouse before they are sent to the authorized WEEE recycling facility in Lima. Given that a large part of these waste materials used to end up in the informal sector and therefore in a substandard recycling process, this initiative helps to avoid possible negative impacts on human health and the environment.

RLG Americas is very happy to announce that to date this alliance managed to collect more than 150 tons of WEEE, which have been recycled in an environmentally responsible manner on behalf of the RLGA Group Plan and its associated producers. At the same time, this alliance has allowed the RLGA Group Plan to expand its geographical coverage, collecting nowadays more than 10% of its WEEE from the northern part of the country.
