Am I a producer of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE)?

In the framework of WEEE Regulation NOM-161-SEMARNAT-2011, producers of certain electrical and electronic equipment which becomes waste for special handling, are required to design, implement and manage a WEEE Management Plan, which can be individual or collective, private or mixed, and cover the local, regional or national level.

RLG Mexico, through its RLGA Group Plan, which is private, collective and national, helps producers of EEE to fulfill their obligations and is responsible for answering to all legal requirements of the norm.

What is the RLGA Group Plan Mexico?

The Take-Back and Regulatory Compliance System (TRCS) is implemented by RLG Mexico through the Collective Plan RLGA, according to what is stated in the following graph. RLG Mexico figures as a compliance unit that represents obliged producers and it manages its environmental compliance. RLG Mexico implements and operates the system on behalf of their management clients (member companies), makes the necessary arrangements with the different competent authorities of the Government, manages collection operations and logistics, and monitors the recycling which is carried out in accordance with the highest technical standards.

A general scheme of the different stages of the RLGA Group Plan in Mexico is presented in the following illustration.

The RLGA Group Plan Mexico is responsible for collecting WEEE from all types of consumers: private companies, public institutions and households. It also manages the member companies’ own generation.
